About

I am a physics specialist based in the North West of the UK and have experience of teaching all three science disciplines at KS3 and KS4 and physics at KS5. Alongside my teaching role, I am also a KS3 Science Co-ordinator and a Research Lead (Science) for the Blackpool Research School. I was also an expert advisor for the Education Endowment Foundation’ s ‘Improving Secondary Science’ guidance report. I worked with a team to review evidence summaries and create 7 key recommendations that bridge the gap between the research and the classroom.

I have always had a keen interest in evidence based pedagogy and I am constantly looking to learn something new! I am currently studying for an MA in Education with the University of Bath, where I am looking at Engelmann’s theory of Direct Instruction and evaluating ways to integrate it into science classroom practice.

This blog is a way for me to share my journey through middle leadership, explore how I have put evidence into practice .
